Replace the Print Head - GX3020 / GX4020

Description

This article shows how to replace the print head in the MAXIFY GX3020 / GX4020.

Solution

To replace the print head in the MAXIFY GX3020 / GX4020, follow these steps.

  1. Turn on the machine.

  2. Set the machine to the print head replacement mode. Press the HOME  button once, then press and hold the Stop  button for five or more seconds.

  3. Special notes will appear on the next screen. Confirm them, then select Yes (tap Yes if you have the GX4020, or press the OK button if you have the GX3020).

    You may need to wait for a few minutes for the next instructions to appear.

  4. Open the top cover of the printer.

  5. After opening the cover, tap OK (Press the OK button if you have a GX3020).

    Tap OK (outlined in red) to proceed, or Operation to see how to remove the maintenance cartridge

    Tapping Operation will show you how to remove the maintenance cartridge.

     This animation will not appear on the GX3020.

    After the animation has finished playing, you can play it again by tapping the Repeat  symbol. Otherwise, tap Exit.

  6. As shown on the screen, release lever 1, then lever 2.

     This animation will not appear on the GX3020.

    Tap Next.

  7. Remove the print head from the print head holder.

  8. Remove the replacement print head from its container.

    Don't touch the nozzles on the bottom, don't touch the circuit board on the back, and don't drop the print head.

  9. Place the print head, slowly and securely, into the print head holder so that it doesn't touch the parts around it. Then, tap Next.

  10. As shown on the screen, lock lever 2, then lever 1.

    Tap Next.

     On the GX3020, this animation will not appear. Press the OK button after installing the print head.

  11. Push the maintenance cartridge in as instructed, then tap OK (Press the OK button on the GX3020).

  12. As shown on the screen, lift up the cover, then slowly close it.

    After a few minutes, the home screen is displayed. The print head replacement process is complete.
