Description

This article contains important information regarding setting up a CX-series or LX-series printer on a network.

Solution

Please note the following when setting up a CX-series or LX-series printer on a network.

  • These printers don't have screens, so all initial network settings can only be changed in the driver installer after the printer is detected.

  • DHCP is off by default.

    • While the printer may be detected when connected to the network for the first time, it is recommended to connect the printer directly to a PC with a crossover cable for the initial setup. When the printer has been detected during the driver installation, DHCP can be enabled on the printer (this is recommended), OR a static IP address can be assigned to the printer for use on the network. This process is explained in the Using the Printer via a LAN Cable section of the Getting Started Guide that came with your printer.

  • If the printer will be used on a print server, click Server Client Registration at the end of the driver installation.

  • If you have followed the steps for the network setup and the printer cannot be detected, open the following ports:

    • 50000 (TCP)

    • 50001 (TCP/UDP)

    • 50002 UDP

    • CFT Printer Port in Windows Defender Firewall > Allowed App
