Remove Jammed Paper from the Rear Side - GX1020

Description

This article shows how to remove paper jamed in the rear of the MAXIFY GX1020.

Solution

To remove paper jammed in the rear of the MAXIFY GX1020, follow the steps below.

  1. Press the printer's Stop  button.

  2. Turn off the printer and unplug it.

  3. Retract the paper output tray.

  4. Turn the printer so that its rear side faces toward you.

     When changing the orientation of the printer, do not turn the printer upside down or tilt it. The ink may leak out.

  5. Pull out the rear cover.

  6. Hold jammed paper firmly with both hands and pull it out slowly.

    If the paper is rolled up, pull it out and grasp the edges of the paper.

     Do not touch the inner parts of the printer.

    If you are unable to remove the jammed paper, follow the steps below to detach the transport unit and then remove the paper.

    1. Lift up the transport unit and pull it out.

    2. Slowly pull out jammed paper.

       Do not touch the inner parts of the printer.

    3. Make sure all jammed paper is removed.

    4. If parts (A) are raised, tip them toward you.

       If you replace the transport unit without lowering parts (A) toward you, it could damage the printer.

    5. Insert the transport unit until it reaches the back of the printer and clicks into place.

  7. Insert the projections of the right side of the rear cover into the printer, and then push the left side of the rear cover until it is closed completely.

  8. Plug the printer back in and power it on.

  9. Load plain paper, photo paper, or envelopes.

     Make sure you are using suitable paper and loading it correctly.

  10. All jobs in the print queue are canceled. Redo the printing.

If the measures above do not solve the problem, the printer requires servicing.
