Description

Learn how to use Scan Utility for Windows to scan multiple documents at one time with the ADF (Auto Document Feeder) of the MAXIFY GX2020.

Solution

Place multiple documents in the ADF (Auto Document Feeder) and scan at one time.

Scanning using the ADF is not available for Photo.

Using Auto Scan:

The item type is detected automatically. Click Auto in the Scan Utility main screen and scan.

Not Using Auto Scan:

In the Settings dialog box, set Source Type to ADF or Auto, and scan.

The screens for scanning documents are used as examples in the following descriptions.

  1. Place the documents in the ADF.

  2. Start Scan Utility.

  3. Click Settings icon (gear) Settings...

    The Settings dialog box appears.

  4. Click Document icon Document Scan in the Settings (Scanning from a Computer) Dialog Box.

  5. Select Source Type according to the documents to be scanned.

To scan only the front side of each document, select Document (ADF Simplex). Alternatively, select Document (ADF / Platen), and then deselect the Scan both sides when scanning from the ADF checkbox.

To scan the front side then the back side of each document, select Document (ADF / Platen), and then select the Scan both sides when scanning from the ADF checkbox. Alternatively, select Document (ADF Manual Duplex).

  6. Set the color mode, document size, and scanning resolution as required.

Click Original Scan Orientation Settings... to specify the orientation of the documents to be scanned. In the displayed dialog box, you can specify the Orientation and Binding Side. How to place the documents when scanning the back sides depends on the Binding Side.

Once settings are made in the Settings dialog box, the same settings can be used for scanning from the next time.

In the Settings dialog box, specify image processing settings such as slant correction, set where to save the scanned images, and more, as needed.

When setting is completed, click OK.

The Scan Utility main screen appears.

  7. Click Document icon Document in the Scan Utility main screen.

    Scanning starts.

To cancel the scan, click Cancel.

When Document (ADF Manual Duplex) is selected for Source Type, follow the on-screen instructions to load the documents, and then click OK.
