Align the Print Head Manually - GX5520X

Description

If your prints are misaligned, a manual print head alignment may resolve the problem.

Solution

Try aligning the print head manually after automatic print head alignment if printing results are not as expected, as when printed ruled lines are misaligned.

You will need two sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.

  1. Make sure the printer is powered on.

  2. Load two sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the cassette.

  3. Select Setup icon (gear) (Setup) on HOME screen.

    The setup menu screen will appear.

  4. Select Maintenance icon (screwdriver and pliers) Maintenance.

    The Maintenance screen will appear.

  5. Select Print Head Alignment - Manual.

    Select Print Head Alignment - Manual (outlined in red)

    The confirmation screen will appear.

     To print and check the current head position alignment values, select Print the Head Alignment Value.

  6. Check the displayed message and select Yes.

    The print head alignment pattern will be printed.

  7. When Did the patterns print correctly? appears, make sure pattern was printed correctly, and if so, select Yes.

  8. Check the displayed message and tap Next.

  9. Examine the patterns and select A. In column A, find pattern in which stripes are least noticeable, and then select the number of that pattern.

     If all patterns look different, choose the pattern in which vertical stripes are least noticeable.

     If all patterns look different, choose the pattern in which horizontal stripes are least noticeable.

  10. Repeat these steps until you have finished entering pattern numbers for columns B to N, and then tap OK.

  11. Check the displayed message and tap OK.

    The second set of patterns is printed.

  12. Examine the patterns and select O. In column O, find pattern in which stripes are least noticeable, and then select the number of that pattern.

  13. Repeat these steps until you have finished entering pattern numbers for columns P to U, and then tap OK.

  14. When the confirmation message appears, tap OK.
