This article also applies to the PIXMA MX439.

  1. Make sure that the power is turned on, open the front cover (C), then open the paper output tray (D).

  2. Open the paper output cover (E).

    3. When the FINE cartridge holder moves to the replacement position, the head cover (F) OPENS AUTOMATICALLY.

     

  3. The serial number is located on a label on the flat metal piece inside the machine just above the paper feed area. See photo below. The serial number consists of four letters followed by five digits.
