Is the ink on the Platen Foam normal?

Answer

Ink can been seen in areas of the Platen foam (inside the machine). This is normal.  Some examples are shown below.

Some reasons for the appearance of ink on the foam include:
 
  • Pre-print fire

  • Maintenance

  • Borderless Print

  • Cleaning

  • Printing on glossy paper (CO ink is applied)




Ink is most often seen on the foam toward either side by the plastic pieces shaped as shown below.
