Basic Copy Operations 1. Place documents. For MF4890dw/MF4880dw/MF4770n Up to 50 documents can be loaded into the feeder. Up to 35 documents can be loaded into the feeder. For D560/D530 * A maximum of 50 pages can be loaded into the feeder. * D530 is not equipped with the feeder. 2. Press [ ] or [ ] (COPY) to switch to the Copy mode screen. The Copy mode screen appears. 3. Specify the copy settings as needed. NOTE Copy Settings: - The settings specified here are effective only for the current operation. To make the settings effective for all the copy operations, see [ Using Copy Functions Conveniently ].
4. Enter the copy quantity (1 to 99) using numeric keys. * Press [ ] or [ ] (Clear) to cancel the entered quantity. 5. Press [ ] or [ ] (Start). Copying starts. NOTE If <Incorrect Size/Setting> appears: - Change the <Paper Settings> menu properly or load the paper size specified in the <Paper Settings> menu.
If <Memory is full. Scanning canceled. Print?> appears: - Either print all pages that were successfully scanned or cancel the job.
IMPORTANT To copy a document without margins: - The image may be partially cut off on the output. See the following section in "Specifications" for more information.
Selecting the Document Type You can adjust the image quality of copies according to the types of documents. A correct selection is necessary for the optimal reproduction of the document. 1. Place documents. 2. Press [ ] (COPY) or [ ] (COPY/SCAN) to switch to the Copy mode screen. 3. Press [ ] or [ ] to highlight <Original Type>, and then press [OK]. 4. Press [ ] or [ ] to highlight the appropriate document type, and then press [OK]. <Text> | This setting is suitable for documents that contain text without photos or illustrations. | <Text/Photo (High Speed)> | This setting is suitable for the documents that contain text and photos. This setting scans the document at a low resolution at high speed. | <Text/Photo> | This setting is suitable for documents that contain text and photos. | <Photo> | This setting is suitable for the documents that contain photos printed in a magazine. |
* If <Density> is set to <Auto Density>, <Density> will be changed to <Manual Density> when you select <Text/Photo (High Speed)>, <Text/Photo>, or <Photo>. 5. Press [ ] or [ ] (Start). Adjusting the Density You can adjust the density for a copy job. To adjust the density for all copy jobs, adjust the density from <Correct Density>. For details about <Correct Density>, see the "e-Manual" (HTML manual) in the CD-ROM supplied with the machine. 1. Place documents. 2. Press [ ] (COPY) or [ ] (COPY/SCAN) to switch to the Copy mode screen. 3. Press [ ] or [ ] to highlight <Density>, and then press [OK]. 4. Press [ ] or [ ] to adjust the density, and then press [OK]. * Select <Auto Density> to copy with the density that is suitable for the document. If other than <Text> is set as <Original Type>, <Original Type> will be changed to <Text> when you select <Auto Density>. * Press [ ] or [ ] to adjust <Manual Density>, when either of <Auto Density> or <Manual Density> is selected. [ ] | Makes the copy density lighter. | [ ] | Makes the copy density darker. |
5. Press [ ] or [ ] (Start). Correcting the Density You can adjust the default density for copying. Change this setting to always make darker or lighter copies. You don't need to change this setting for each copy job. 1. Press [ ] or [ ] (Menu). 2. Press [ ] or [ ] to highlight <Copy Settings>, and then press [OK]. 3. Press [ ] or [ ] to highlight <Correct Density>, and then press [OK]. 4. Press [ ] or [ ] to adjust the density, and then press [OK]. [ ] | Makes the copy density slightly lighter. | [ ] | Makes the copy density slightly darker. |
5. Press [ ] or [ ] (Menu) to close the Menu screen. Checking and Canceling Copy Jobs You can check the details of copy jobs. Also, you can cancel copy jobs while the jobs are in process. NOTE If the Processing/Data indicator on the operation panel is:
Canceling a Copy Job Using [ ] or [ ] (Stop) 1. Press [ ] or [ ] (Stop). * If only one job is processing or waiting, you can stop the job by pressing [ ] or [ ] (Stop) twice. 2. When multiple jobs are being processed, press [ ] or [ ] to highlight a job to be canceled, and then press [OK]. 3. When <Cancel?> appears, press [ ] or [ ] to highlight <Yes>, and then press [OK]. You can cancel the print job also by pressing [ ] or [ ] (Stop). The job is canceled. * To check the details of the job you want to cancel, press [ ] or [ ] to highlight <Details>, and then press [OK]. Checking and Canceling a Copy Job Using [ ] or [ ] (Status Monitor/Cancel) 1. Press [ ] or [ ] (Status Monitor/Cancel). 2. Press [ ] or [ ] to highlight <Copy Job Status>, and then press [OK]. The detailed information is displayed. To cancel the job: (1) Press [ ] or [ ] to highlight <Cancel>, and then press [OK]. (2) Press [ ] to highlight <Yes>, and then press [OK]. The job is canceled. (3) Press [ ] or [ ] (Status Monitor/Cancel) to close the screen. To only check the details of the selected job: After you finish checking the details of the selected job, press [ ] or [ ] (Status Monitor/Cancel) to close the screen.
