By setting the Master G ain to +12 dB and r eadjusting the lens aperture to restore 100% Luma, the reference white mapping point on the linear transfer characteristic of the EOS C700 and EOS C300 M ark II cameras is altered to that shown in Figure 17. Table 2 show s that the full 15 -stops are now available for the OETF . The 0dB signal to noise limitation is reached at -11 -stops.

Canon Log 3 (green curve in Figure 1) was added to both the EOS C700 and EOS C300 Mark II camera s to offer an alternative when the full 15 -stops of dynamic range is not required – especially in the deep dark areas of a scene . This allows for a more simple level of grading in postproduction.
