The electronic MTF of the typical HD camera falls more rapidly than that of the lens – primarily because of the optical pre- filter and the electrical post-requirement that is necessitated by the requirement to control aliasing associated with the spatial sampling of the image sensor. Figure 8 below simplistically illustrates the linear MTF of the HD lens compared to the hypothetical MTF of both an HD and a UHD image sensor.
