How to Test the Send and Receive Functions for Faxing

After you have connected the fax machine to your telephone line, you can now test to see if is ready to send and receive faxes . Here’s how:

Receiving faxes using DRPD (Distinctive Ring Pattern Detection)
|
Choose this mode if: telephone company. This service assigns two or more telephone numbers with distinctive ring patterns to a single telephone line, allowing you to have a fax number (s) and a telephone number(s) using only one telephone line. Your machine will automatically monitor incoming calls and based on the ring pattern, will let you know if the call is a fax or voice call.

Verify the remote fax machine is set to answer automatically
|
[BUSY/NO SIGNAL] will appear on the display (or #018 will appear on an Activity Report) for several reasons: The remote fax is not answering (disconnected, set to not answer automatically, memory is full, etc.). The fax number being dialed is incorrect. The fax number being dialed is busy.

Connect the fax to the correct phone line
|
This will occur if there are multiple lines and telephone jacks in the same location. Or if the telephone jack is wired for two lines. For example, line one is to be used for voice calls and line two is to receive faxes. Disconnect the fax machine from the telephone wall jack. Connect a known functioning single-line telephone directly to the telephone wall jack.

The document guide sheet feeds documents from the document feeder out through the top of the document cover. Clean the document guide sheet if sent faxes , copies or scans have black or white veritical lines.

Set device to correct Telephone Line Type
|
The fax machine is set to dial out, by the default, using touch tone dialing. If the telephone line is set for rotary pulse, the fax will not dial out. Change the telephone line type on the operator panel as follows.
