Resolving "Error 1 Incorrect Function"
Attempting to print from a Windows XP computer with a firewall protection program installed, the following messages may appear. In McAfee Firewall user interface, click the link to allow the services (programs) access to the Internet. Dependent on what function was being performed prior to the error message (i.e. printing, scanning or PC Faxing), the services will be listed under Program Name. The following is a list of services that the firewall program must allow access.

Disconnect and reconnect power cord to reset the device
If the device does not respond, or to clear an error , disconnect and then reconnect the power cord.

If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it. If resetting the printer's power does not clear the error or return the machine to a functioning state, it may be necessary to attempt a service reset. for instructions to attempt a service reset.
