Do not connect a USB cable and SCSI cable at the same time. Follow these steps to install the scanner using the USB connection:

If you have verified that the cable is the one that came with the scanner and is functioning properly, it is possible that the Windows assigned USB ID has become corrupted and needs to be reset. To do this, please download (and run) the "Restoration Tool for Windows Registry" (located under the "Utilities" tab of "Drivers & Downloads" on the scanner product page).The function of this tool is to reassign the USB ID's to the correct scanners.
