Description

Learn which scan settings are available and how to set them on your PIXMA MX922.

Solution

You can change various scan settings such as the scan size, resolution, and data format.

Available settings

Scan size - select the size of the original.

Format - Select the data format of the scanned data.

Scan res (Scan resolution) - Select the resolution for scanning.

Preview - Select to preview the scanned data when you save the data on a USB flash drive.

ADF orientation - Select the orientation of the original document. This setting isn't available when Photo is selected for Doc.type.

ADF duplex scan - Select this when you use the document feeder. When you select Duplex, press the right function button to select the stapling side. This setting item is not available when Photo is selected for Doc.type.

Reduce show-thru (Reducing show-through) - Characters on the back of a page may show through when scanning a thin document such as a newspaper. Select ON if characters seem to show through on the scanned document. This setting item is not available when Photo is selected for Doc.type.

Descreen - A printout consists of minute dots to make characters or graphs. Interfering with each dot may result in uneven shades or a striped pattern. Select ON if you notice any uneven shades or a striped pattern on the scanned image. This setting item isn't available when Photo is selected for Doc.type. Even if ON is selected, some moire effects may remain if Unsharp mask is set to ON. In that case, select OFF for Unsharp mask.

Unsharp mask - the outline of small characters or thin objects such as a hair or leaves on a photo can be accentuated. Select ON if you want to accentuate the outline of the scanned data.

Change settings

  1. When the scan standby screen displays, tap the right function button to select the setting.

  2. Use the up / down arrow  UPDOWN buttons to select the setting item.

  3. Use the left / right arrow  LEFTRIGHT buttons to change the setting.

  4. Tap OK

Use the Settings dialog box within Canon IJ Scan Utility on your computer to specify the destination and file name:

  • You can scan directly from your Windows PC or your Mac.

  • Certain settings cannot be changed and are grayed out, or a message is shown on the LCD. These include:

    • When Auto scan is selected for Doc.type to forward the scanned data to a computer (except for auto document feeder (ADF) orientation and ADF duplex scan).

    • When you use WSD (a network protocol) to forward the scanned data to a computer.

    • The specified scan settings such as the scan size, resolution, and data format are retained even if the machine is turned off.
