Solution

In order to use your printer and scanner properly, you need to install the drivers and software that allow it to work with your computer.

In this article we will show you how to find the driver/software needed for your operating system.

Whether you have a new printer or computer, an updated operating system, or for some reason your printer and computer are no longer able to communicate, updating or reinstalling your drivers may be helpful.
To utilize all functions of your printer/scanner, the Canon software for your model may be necessary. Instructions on how to find these are below.

Download drivers or software

Follow these steps to install Canon drivers or software for your printer / scanner.

  1. Go to the Canon Support page so we can search for the specific printer model you have.
  2. Enter your Canon model in the box. When your model appears below the box, click it.

    Note Make sure you enter your model number exactly as it appears on your printer.

    Type the model name of your product, then click on its listing below the text entry field

  3. You will be redirected to the support page for the model you searched for in the previous step.
  4. Select the Software & Drivers button.

  • If you are installing your printer for the first time, have updated your computer operating system, or the printer is unable to communicate with the computer, you will need to download the recommended driver in order to print.
  1. Choose the Download button to the right of the software or driver file you wish to download.
    In most cases, you will see a driver that is recommended for you.
    Downloading and installing the MP Drivers or Full Driver and Software Package will help you set your printer up to print and scan.

Note Your software list may vary from the example you see here.

Note You may need to scroll down and choose the Load More button to expand the list to find the file you want.

  1. Once the download is complete, double-click on the file from the download location.
    Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

 

Special exceptions for Mac Users

  •  If you use a Mac®  and have certain PIXMA TS, TR or CanoScan models, drivers aren't available because they use AirPrint technology for printing / scanning.
  •  Mac users will need to double-click the .PKG file which appears after double-clicking the downloaded file.
