To connect your printer to the network with this method, your wireless router must have a WPS™ button on it. The WPS button is located either on the front or back panel of your router, but not all routers have this button. Refer to your router instructions for additional help.
If your router doesn't have a WPS button on it, you can use the cableless setup method.
Connect your printer to the network
Locate the WPS button on your router before you begin.
-
Make sure the printer is turned ON. The green POWER light (A) is lit if the power is ON.
-
Hold down the Wi-Fi® button (B) on the printer until the orange light (C) flashes once, then release the Wi-Fi button after the flash.
-
Make sure the blue Wi-Fi light (D) on your printer flashes quickly and that the green POWER lamp is lit.
-
Press and hold the WPS button on your router within two minutes of completing Step 3.
-
Confirm that the blue Wi-Fi lamp and the green POWER lamp on your printer are lit.
-
Wi-Fi setup is complete. You're ready to install the software.
If lights do not remain lit
When the blue Wi-Fi light and/or orange alarm light do not remain steadily lit, try these steps:
-
Press the WPS button.
-
Wait for several minutes, bring the printer and router closer to one another.
-
Then repeat these setup steps from the beginning.
Troubleshoot setup completion issues
If the orange light remains illuminated while the blue Wi-Fi light flashes, it's an indication that the setup is incomplete. Fix these items to unblock the setup completion.
-
Press the WPS button on your router. Identify whether router security settings are blocking connection to the printer. Wait for a while then configure wireless connection settings again.
-
Restart the router (turn OFF, then turn it back ON).
-
Verify that the computer and router are configured.
-
Review the Wi-Fi network properties to confirm the wireless computer networking standards is implemented (IEEE802.11).
-
Check that both the router and printer are installed in open spaces where wireless communications are possible.
