11. HighBitDepth – up to 12-bitRGBfor2K / HDorigination effectively eliminates digital quantization artifacts and noise, while ensuring faithful reproduction of the wide dynamic range and wide color gamut to support extensive color grading in postproduction.Bit depth, though not strictly related to color space, is a key determinant of the fidelity of reproduction of the image color palette

The View Assist function is also ideal when you want to show a client, on set, how their image might look once color corrected and graded. This will ensure that they don't the see dark, flat and milky images which Canon Log Gamma will display.

In 2015 the EOS C300 Mark II camera was introduced and offer ed a digital mo tion imaging system intended to support High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wide Color Gamut (WCG). Canon subsequently introduced the flagship EOS C700 digital cinematography camera at IBC2016 – close to the fifth ann iversary of the November 2011 introduc tion of the Cinema EOS system that now includes an extended family of cine lenses, cameras, and reference displays.

The viewfinder guiding indicator is a white colored cursor which can be positioned anywhere within the focusing area that constitutes an 80% horizontal and 80% vertical region of the on- screen image display – as shown in Figure 13. Theguide cursor is moved by the cinematographer to overlay the specific subject within the scene that is to be sharply focused.

This dilemma was addressed over many decades by skillful “mapping” of the original image capture to the known attributes of the final film medium (and indeed to the equally known attributes of the projection systems). Choosing specific film stocks (often a number of the same in one production) and employing refined strategies in the film lab could produce reasonably compelling final imagery within the dynamic range constraints of the overall film system. Cineon expanded these options when it introduced digital scanning of film negatives and increasingly sophisticated color grading capabilities in postproduction.

HLG-Vivid This HLG corresponds to the traditional colour described in section 6.5 of Report ITU-R BT.2390-4. This results in expression with higher saturation than that of the BT.2100 compliant HLG.
PDF EOS C300 MARK II
A separate white paper outlines the many technologies mobilized to enhance the overall image quality [4].A15-stop HDR dynamic range, wide color gamuts, up to 12-bit depth, 4:4:4 color sampling, and high progressive frame rates collectively produce 2K / HD imagery of stunning quality. Capturing all of that quality via on-board recording was a central imperative to the C300 Mark II design.
